STOLEN FROM AFRICA: Nigerian Protesters Force Sotheby’s To Shelve Planned Sale Of Stolen Benin Ivory Mask

In Benin Nigeria, during British colonization 1897, this ivory mask was stolen by lt col Henry Galway...now his family want to auction it on the 17 February 2011... This mask that resembles a huge part of African history is to be sold for 5 million pounds! petitions are being signed to stop it and an appeal has been made to the nigerian government to stop this stolen piece to be profitable to a british family...

Now if you have ever raised money for children in need or comic relief because you wanted to help African children... then this is the time to show Africa matters to you by retweeting this and stop our mask being sold so it can return to Africa...

Africa does not have to buy it back because it belongs to Africa... culled from MOKOSI.COM
